Who Is Who

As part of my MA studies, I conducted a number of visual researches that focused on the visibility riddle of the Middle East. In the Who is Who project I took that innocent question, removed the question mark, turned it into a rhetorical question, one whose answer is self-evident, and created a sentence that can be read as a palindrome – from both directions. I have created a book that incorporates my visual research, which can be opened and read from both sides.

During editing, I placed a picture of a character or situation on every page: one is Israeli, and on the other side is a similar situation from one of the countries in the Middle East. Readers can experience duplications of people, social situations, food and culture. Despite the somewhat stereotypical approach, this is a booklet that is not meant to be a “riddle” with an answer “who is who?”. Rather, it aims to lead to the conclusion that all Middle East people are equal, and are also brothers.
